Virgin of La Tirana
Every year, the town of La Tirana, located 72 kilometers from Iquique, holds the festivity of the Virgin of La Tirana in which more than 250,000 people gather in the town to join this week-long celebration.
But La Tirana is much more than a religious celebration, it is a cultural encounter with our Andean roots. Year after year, the costumes worn by the dance groups, the music of musical instruments, and the dances that tour the small streets are part of the customs of Indians, natives, mestizos, and blacks that lived in these lands in the past.
In Iquique you can rent a car or hire a tour to Pozo Almonte, La Tirana, and surrounding areas.
