What you should know
How to get there by air
The main air terminal is Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) in Santiago. From there, you must travel south by land to Molina or Talca (approximately 3 hours). Another option is flying to Concepción (CCP) and driving up to Maule, although the land connection from the capital is the most frequent and direct for tourists.
How to get there by land
From Santiago, follow Route 5 South to Molina to access Radal Siete Tazas. For Panimávida, head toward Linares and then to the Colbún commune. Reaching Longaví requires entering the foothills via rural routes. A high-clearance or 4×4 vehicle is recommended, as the final stretches toward the trails consist of gravel roads.
Climate and clothing
The climate is Mediterranean with hot summers and cool nights in the foothills. Wear light layers for the day and warm clothing for the night. Use technical trekking shoes with good grip for rocky trails and high-factor sunscreen.
Must-Know Tips
Bring a swimsuit for the hot springs and mountain gear if attempting Longaví. Carry cash for local services and enough fuel. Booking your national park entry on the official CONAF website is mandatory. Don’t forget a reusable water bottle, a headlamp, and insect repellent for forested areas.
