Santiago Goes Gourmet

When it comes to dining, the city of Santiago isn't short on options.

El Golf is a renowned business hub and its restaurants offer a wide variety of options including signature cuisine, Spanish food, seafood, grilled meats and Italian fare. Check out El Bosque Norte and Isidora Goyenechea streets and the area around Plaza Perú.

Bellavista offers a special blend of dining, entertainment and nightlife options. You'll find hidden treasures on nearly every corner, but if you have to choose, pick one of the well-established eateries that specialize in traditional Chilean cuisine.

Areas like Vitacura – especially the BordeRío shopping complex and Avenida Costanera, Alonso de Córdova, Avenida Padre Hurtado and Avenida Vitacura – have filled up with restaurants for all tastes. Choose from fine European cuisine, modern takes on traditional Chilean dishes, seafood, sushi and Peruvian fare. There's plenty to choose from. Malls in areas like Las Condes are home to a variety of famous restaurants, many of which feature open-air seating.

If you're looking for a classic culinary experience, head to the Central Market next to Estación Mapocho. It is home to dozens of restaurants that serve fresh fish and seafood starting early in the morning. This is a great place to end a night out or start a new day with an energy boost.

Providencia and its Italia neighborhood are quite fashionable (especially Rancuagua, Seminario and Condell streets) and have recently become popular among lovers of fine dining. Here you'll find Ecuadorian, Peruvian, Russian, Indian and fusion restaurants just meters away from one another. The hardest part is choosing just one. Highly recommended.
