This area of southern Chile is home to the greatest concentration of hot springs in South America. This led to the creation of the Ruta de la Salud ("Health Route"), a 50-kilometer circuit that links places where naturally warm waters can help alleviate rheumatism, arthritis and stress.
The hot springs centers range from rustic to sophisticated. Some offer indoor pools and spas while others feature natural pools where the water flows directly from the ground. The Route includes a wide variety of sites such as Termas Geométricas, Termas de Coñaripe, Termas Río Liquiñe, Centro Termal Liquiñe, Termas Vergara, Termas Eco-Pellaifa, Termas de Manquecura, Termas Punulaf, Termas Carranco, Termas Quintuman, Termas Trafican, Termas del Rincón and Termas de Muñoz.
The most impressive of the bunch is Termas Geométricas, a group of 16 open-air pools connected by wooden walkways amid lush native vegetation. Don't miss the chance to do some nighttime soaking under a starlit sky. The staff at Villarrica National Park makes this an unforgettable experience by setting up more than 400 candles to illuminate the park's sumptuous surroundings.
