Robinson Crusoe Island
A paradise of endemic nature
Part of the Juan Fernández Archipelago, Robinson Crusoe Island is a unique natural destination, home to an impressive diversity of endemic species. Here you can explore beautiful trails surrounded by nature or dive into its waters to discover extraordinary marine fauna.
The town of San Juan Bautista, located in Cumberland Bay, is the island’s only inhabited settlement. This is where the entire local community lives and where the main visitor services are concentrated. Its famous local product also stands out: the delicious Juan Fernández lobster, considered a true delicacy of the Pacific. And why the name? This is where the Scottish sailor Alexander Selkirk was shipwrecked in 1704, whose incredible story inspired Daniel Defoe’s famous novel, Robinson Crusoe.
