Hip hop legend Nasir Jones, aka Nas, toured a vineyard in Colchagua Valley on Thursday, ahead of his headlining show at Chile's biggest music festival, Lollapalooza, this weekend.
The 13 time Grammy nominee said on his Twitter page that he felt "rejuvenated" by his trip to Chilean wine country, where he was accompanied by seven members of his band. The rapper is due on stage for a sideshow at Club Subterráneo in Santiago on Friday night, before performing in front of tens of thousands at Lollapalooza on Sunday.
Nas first achieved fame in 1994 after the release of his debut album Illmatic, widely regarded as one of the best hip-hop albums of all time. His eleven solo albums have sold more than 13 million copies in the U.S. alone, and the rapper is often cited as being the most talented lyricist in the industry today.
Speaking on the high profile star, who has over a million followers on Twitter, Chile's Assistant Secretary of Tourism, Jacqueline Pass, said: "This year, a number of leading voices of social media are coming to our country as a part of our tourism promotion strategy, so they spread the news about Chile's tourist attractions through their resources."
Andrea Wolleter, General Manager of Turismo Chile, the institution in charge of promoting Chile overseas, said: "These kinds of activities are very important when it comes to promoting our country; they let others know about the treasures we have to offer through different points of view."
